Foreign Factory
A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux
Place: Unknown.
Myself: Who... or what am I? I don’t know. All I know is—I shouldn’t be here. Something feels off. Cold wet floors, flickering lights, distant mechanical hums... This factory was made for something, but not for me. I need to get out.
Foreign Factory, a 2D platformer developed in 16 days for the GAE Jam 2. The theme of the jam was "Dodge" and i picked the "Neon colors" wildcard, which was one of three available cards. It's my first game made with godot. It’s a journey through an eerie, unsettling, and seemingly abandoned futuristic facility, appearing to be a crystal mine factory. A place that doesn't want you to leave.
Navigate your way through a total of four levels, each more challenging than the last. Along the way, you’ll unlock new abilities and usable environment parts that are crucial for the progres.
LVL001:
Relatively harmless, you'll need to use timed jumps over gaps or avoid getting stuck when trying to make it through narrow passages.
LVL002:
Introducing spikes that have to be avoided while having to deal with the increased difficulty of having the freedom limited to move around when in need of dodging obstacles or gaps.
LVL003:
Introducing the dash ability, which will be needed to avoid and dodge operating mining machineries, fitting through extended gaps and obstacles.
LVL004:
Lastly, environmental interactive walls are introduced that have to be used for parkour. There are two types of walls. One of them gives you a short time window of sliding down, giving you time to decide when to jump in the opposite direction before falling off completely. The other one has no slide off delay, meaning that you have to jump into the other direction immediately when making contact with the wall. This level combines all obstacles and abilities from the previous ones.
